Video: Man Utd’s Marouane Fellaini Celebrates Hull Goal By Hugging Mourinho

By Daniel Caw

Marouane Fellaini proved his worth to the Manchester United cause tonight by scoring against Hull City in the EFL Cup and passionately ran to Jose Mourinho to celebrate.

The Belgian midfielder has been much-maligned this season, particularly after giving away a costly penalty late on in the draw with Everton last month.

But Mourinho has stood by his player, regularly continuing to field the imposing 29-year-old, and tonight his faith paid off somewhat.

Leading 1-0 in the first-leg of the semi-final against a stubborn Hull side, United had huffed and puffed but couldn’t find that crucial second goal to really put them in control of the tie – until Fellaini was brought on for Juan Mata:

That was just his first goal of the season, but it could be important, and it seemed Fellaini was making a point of sharing the moment with his manager, as he passionately ran to the dugout:

He might not be the greatest player in the world, but he can really be affective at times.
